Aquaworld Cozumel Open Water Certification Overview
Ever since Jacques Cousteau featured the coral reefs near Cozumel on his television program decades ago, scores of scuba diving aficionados have traveled to the island to witness the remarkable underwater marvels for themselves firsthand. The teeming coral habitats on the leeward side of the island are teeming with a fantastic array of underwater species like corals, sponges, sea turtles, and tropical fish like angel fish, parrot fish, and sergeant majors. The reefs on the leeward side of the island are protected from winds and rough seas, so the visibility remains incredibly clear. There is no better place on the planet to learn the exciting sport of scuba diving than in the Caribbean waters off Cozumel Island.
Your open water certification begins with classroom study of the theory of scuba diving. Our engaging and knowledgeable PADI instructors will teach you everything you need to know before you ever hit the water. After classroom study, you will hit the pool or shallow lagoon for confined water training. The confined water exercises will allow students to become familiarized with the breathing apparatus as well as maneuvering under water while wearing the scuba equipment. You dive instructor will be on hand at every step of the way, providing guidance and supervision as you become acclimated. After the confine water training, you will have the chance to go diving in open water under the watchful eye of a dive-master. You will dive at four different dive sites off Cozumel at depths up to forty-five feet in order to finish your certification.
