The Makaira, a 23-foot Seacraft, is the perfect boat for maneuvering around submerged structure like reefs and wrecks or close to coastal mangroves. This flexible craft can also convey your group of up to three anglers for some trolling. The abundant currents that host pelagic species are not far from our docks. Because this vessel is smaller than most and can hold only three clients, the Makaira offers you a cost-effective alternative to booking a larger vessel. Despite its size, you will still have access to tournament-grade fishing equipment. You and your party members will appreciate the personalized service of a smaller charter.

Our staff will have even more one-on-one time to tutor your group on angling techniques and strategies for fishing in this region. If you have novice anglers or children in your party, then our patient and experienced captain will be happy to provide fishing lessons to the uninitiated.

This smaller, highly maneuverable boat is perfect for light tackle, reef and bottom fishing. Usually, species that can be caught through light tackle and bottom fishing methods are active throughout the year. Snapper, amberjacks, sharks, kingfish, barracuda and grouper are species that can be hooked when deep sea trolling may not be at its peak in the area. Grouper often lurk around submerged structures like wrecks or rock piles. These fish can grow to close to weights of 180 pounds. The great thing about light tackle angling is the constant activity. You will be less likely to hook a huge marlin or tuna, but you will be more likely to catch a higher volume of fish. If you are more interested in constant action rather than chasing huge pelagics, then a light tackle expedition is perfect for you.
