This impressive archaeological park is a relatively new find and is still in the process of excavation and reconstruction. You have the opportunity to visit this amazing remote site, and walk the streets of an ancient Mayan city. Even though Coba is still being excavated, there is still plenty of amazing limestone buildings to see at this site. There are three to four miles of hiking just to see all of the incredible buildings and sculptures at Coba.

One of the most impressive structures at this site is the Mayan Ball Court. Ball courts of this type could be found all over the Mayan Empire. The games played at these sites played a vital role in Mayan culture. The ball court at Coba is incredibly well-preserved.

The Great Pyramid of Coba, Nohuc Mul, stands at one hundred and thirty feet tall. It is worth the climb up this massive structure in order to enjoy a panoramic view of the Coba community, as well as the lush surrounding wilderness. You can really appreciate the grand scale of this city from atop Nohuc Mul.

You will also see a variety of temples at Coba, often dedicated to the Mayan sun god. The Oval Temple at Coba is an example of architectural style that you will not see at Tulum or Chichen Itza.
